From Kerry Park

Quick, while it’s still summer!  Get out your camera and take some snaps of Seattle.  It could rain tomorrow and you are going to want some photographs of one of the world’s most beautiful cities.

From what I’ve seen so far, these are some of my favorite places (all over the world) to take pictures:

• Seattle
• Waikiki Beach (nice shots of boats and palms)
• Paris (a thousand photos on every block)
• Sydney (forget the Opera House, go to Bondi (Bond-eye) or some of the older neighborhoods)
• Lucerne
• San Francisco (especially the people)
• London
• Monte Carlo
• Anacapri
• Corsica
• Street markets in France
• Hong Kong
• Shanghai
• Talinn, Estonia  (like Disneyland, only real)
• Bruges (don’t forget the chocolate)
• Vancouver BC
• Rothenburg or Rouen (medieval towns)
• Auckland, out on the bay
• Mount Rainier (everywhere)
• Beune, France (photos from the inside of the cathedral…you’ll see)
• Vienna

Anyway, that was fun to reminisce…  

Photographers should read about the great parks in Seattle for camera freaks.  Seatown is definitely on the list of great photo ops.  Read my article:  ”Best Parks for Capturing Seattle Images“. 

The most important thing to know, for interesting photos, is to go  where the tourists are scarce.  Hey, does the world really need another picture of the Eiffel Tower or the Space Needle?

Yes, there are some fun things to do on the computer that don’t involve credit cards and parcels on the doorstep.  What I mean is that I like psychological games and tests. 

Here are my results from taking the Meyers-Briggs test: 

“Inventor”.   Enthusiastic interest in everything and always sensitive to possibilities. Non-conformist and innovative. 3.2% of the total population.

I think that’s me in a big fat nutshell.  Find out what you are on the Meyers-Briggs test.  Interesting.  Go ahead and laugh when you read my type at ENTP.

I Love This

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and I when I was a kid I thought that every place in the world had Totem Poles.  My grandfather also had elaborately carved Swiss clocks and Barvarian wooden knick knacks on his shelves.  So, you know I love this site of Native American art.   Click here for >>>Northwest Coast Carvings<<<.

Lake Quinault Lodge

 

I love getting away from everything.  As soon as I can I want to go to one of my favorite lodges.  I love the Olympic Peninsula, Mount Rainier, and the San Juans.  I need a weekend getaway from retired life.

Marymoor Park Late Afternoon

Marymoor Park in Redmond WA is the heart of Seattle’s Eastside. This park gives visitors the best of small town Washington, packed in a happy 640 acres. Marymoor plays out something for all Eastsiders: Summer concerts, outdoor movies, a bicycle velodrome, a rowing club, sports fields, climbing walls, an off-leash dog park, and a bike trail that goes all the way to the big city.  Read the details about Marymoor, my fave Seattle area park.  I think you’ll love this place, too.

Check this out!  I was on the non-consumer gal’s website and ”Alunachic”  posted this comment

I remembered Bank of America has an offer for free museum admission by showing your debit card. I’m not sure where you bank, but a quick check revealed several museums with free admission via Bof A debit card.

Here’s the link for Bank of America Museums.  Seattle WA has:

• Museum of History and Industry (in the Montlake District, near UW).
• Wing Luke Asian Museum (The ID – International District), a cool little spot, which you would drive right past if you weren’t looking for it.
• Northwest African American Museum (I’ve never been there.  Check it out.)

These places are free on the first full weekend of every month.  You need a B/of/A  piece of ID.  Thanks Alunachic. 

Wow, I just checked NYC.  MOMA’s on the list.  I love this.  And, the Whitney.  I need to make sure my next trip to the East Coast is the right weekend.  Maybe, I should look at LA, too.  I go there from time to time to see my daughter.

Take a Camera to the Seattle Center for Cheap Fun!

I was just exploring WordPress and I found a Kindred Spirit.

The gal at the blog The Unconsumer Advocate sounds a lot like me, when I was younger.  I’ve already raised my kids, but I used to try to find cool things to do that were cheap or free in Seattle when my kids were younger.

Anyway, I thought I’d send some of my pals to this blog (written by Katy) for more cheap ideas.   (Honestly, I don’t know this person, but she sounds cool.)

Can I Still Ride on the Camels?

Try these three Seattle art museums to catch new trends and make new friends:  SAM (Seattle Art Museum) or SAM’s little sisters: Seattle Asian Art Museum or Olympic Sculpture Park.  (Click on the SAAM link above to see free days at these museums.)

I am sad that China keeps their own stone animals out in the open air, but Seattle replaced our camels with fakes.  Come on!  My brothers and I used to sit on the camels in the 50s to take silly pictures.  It was something free to do.  Man, I think our museums and zoos were all free in the 50s and 60s. 

Now Seatown peeps need to wait for special days to get a hit of culture  That’s a rip.  (I guess it’s better than nothing.)  

Parents who don’t take their kids to see the camels (even if they are fake camels) should be sued for child abuse.  I love my city!  Free Museums NOW!  Hello…London has free museums!
