Marymoor Park Late Afternoon
Marymoor Park in Redmond WA is the heart of Seattle’s Eastside. This park gives visitors the best of small town Washington, packed in a happy 640 acres. Marymoor plays out something for all Eastsiders: Summer concerts, outdoor movies, a bicycle velodrome, a rowing club, sports fields, climbing walls, an off-leash dog park, and a bike trail that goes all the way to the big city. Wow, I just checked NYC. MOMA’s on the list. I love this. And, the Whitney. I need to make sure my next trip to the East Coast is the right weekend. Maybe, I should look at LA, too. I go there from time to time to see my daughter.

I was just exploring WordPress and I found a Kindred Spirit.
The gal at the blog The Unconsumer Advocate sounds a lot like me, when I was younger. I’ve already raised my kids, but I used to try to find cool things to do that were cheap or free in Seattle when my kids were younger.
Anyway, I thought I’d send some of my pals to this blog (written by Katy) for more cheap ideas. (Honestly, I don’t know this person, but she sounds cool.)

I am sad that China keeps their own stone animals out in the open air, but Seattle replaced our camels with fakes. Come on! My brothers and I used to sit on the camels in the 50s to take silly pictures. It was something free to do. Man, I think our museums and zoos were all free in the 50s and 60s.
Now Seatown peeps need to wait for special days to get a hit of culture That’s a rip. (I guess it’s better than nothing.)
Parents who don’t take their kids to see the camels (even if they are fake camels) should be sued for child abuse. I love my city! Free Museums NOW! Hello…London has free museums!
EMP is not a tourist trap. Experience Music Project is a true shrine to Seattle Rock. Take 3 visionaries: Paul Allen, Frank Gehry, and Jimi Hendrix, then shake. Voila, it’s Magic.
After driving past the EMP Seattle Building for ages, I finally decided to stop in. This place is amazing.
Click here for my REVIEW OF EMP. I love my city. In the summer, Seattle is as beautiful as Switzerland. In the winter, it’s a tiny knock off of London. If we could beam up parts of Musee d’Orsay, there would never be a reason to leave.

Where are the best Seattle Parks by the water? I’ve lived in Seattle all my life (with some time out: Waikiki & So Cal). I would never steer you wrong.
Tourists and Newbies need my quickie map of Seattle Parks by the water. Go to the article to see the approximate locations of Myrtle Edwards, Alki Beach, Gas Works Park, Magnuson Park, and Green Lake. Seattle has tons of waterside parks, but these are easy to find and worth the extra effort. Rock on.
Cool Cow at Farrel Mcwhirter
Farrel McWhirter is one of the best Redmond parks, because it is a mini farm, and it’s just the right size for parents and kids. This Eastside Seattle park has some truly adorable farm animals. It’s a petting zoo or a pony party for big birthday children.
These friendly animals are not worn out by the mobs; they are happy to see kids and let the kids see them. Visitors are not allowed to feed the critters, but some animals like to be petted. Read more about: Farrel-McWhirter Park and Pony Parties.
